I like Chris Pratt; I doubt he can sound Italian but he I like his voice. He will forever in my mind be Starlord and the raptor tamer. But it’s nice to see him voice acting again.

I don't think he's allowed to sound Italian. The whole 'woke' thing about only -race- people allowed to voice -race- and all that, like what happened to Simpsons or Family Guy?

I see; I don’t want his voice to change anyway. I think it’s what I meant by he can’t sound Italian. Of course I believe I ended up confusing others.

I do agree with everything you said Artie. It is I think what happened to those two shows, I don’t know.

Honestly, I think it's stupid. It's all part of acting, isn't it? changing one's voice to sound like you have an accent?

Agreed; it’s part of acting to be able to reach heights in the acting career. Whenever it’s an accent or a strange language. Or little to no words like Vin Diesel playing Groot, it is acting.

I hope I came across alright.

It's not that he's "not allowed" - Charles Martinet is still doing the same voice in the games, and the other language dubs of the trailer have Italian accents, it's just that Pratt doesn't voice act. He just voices it like himself. It worked for The LEGO Movie 'cause Emmet was a complete nobody everyman, but it's bullshit for Mario.

I really hope they can fix that. if anything making it look more like mario even if they can get a vocal actor to teach him now to do an italian accent would likely help. I mean Nintendo wants this to be a good thing for the opening making it as good a possible with American fans will only improve things.

There's nothing for them to fix in their grand scheme of things. Pratt's there to flex his name to put non-gaming butts in seats - much like most of rest of the cast, the same way production companies have used celebrity VAs since Disney figured out they could make shitloads of money by screwing over Robin Williams 30 years ago with Aladdin. There are some that do put genuine effort into it, but more often than not it's just name recognition.
